Broken hearts and misfits
prone to delusion and distraction we
walk the world
with tunes in our heads,
colors in our eyes connecting
dots in mostly
irreverent ways mad,
we are, every one.
Not quite part of
your sane little world.
We find each other in coffee shops,
church basements, impromptu meetings
art markets, open mics,
circles made to grow larger
we come as singers and players
writers and tellers
seekers and loners.
Loners, all
Until we find each other
strange and dented
then,
poem by poem
song by song
we make
the invisible, visible
the foolish, brave
the world, more human.
the world, more human.
Whistles!! Such a deep & thoughtful piece :D
ReplyDeleteWow, I love this. You nailed it. Kindred spirits we are... finding each other all strange and dented.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I have attempted this theme before, and may very well do so again. It's fascinating to me, how we come together in such improbable groups, usually after falling apart one way or another.
DeleteSo much we manage to share... such unity by writing and reading... poetry is like smell of voice.
ReplyDeleteThis is just perfect. We are so lucky when we find each other.
ReplyDeleteLove that transformation....the recognition that we find each other 'strange and dented' but then make,
ReplyDelete'the invisible, visible
the foolish, brave
the world, more human.'
That's spectacular, isn't it??
I LOVE this poem, especially its closing lines. Yes, this is what we do......try to make the world more human.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect description of the creative minds who find each other in such wonderful places like Poetry Pantry!

ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful when poets find a way to meet up with one another -- either in person or online. Enjoyed your poem & the concept you wrote about.
